Choose the Perfect Glass Solution

Manufacture

Architectural glass refers to various glass materials used in buildings, primarily in components such as windows, wall partitions and doors. It offers multiple functions, including light transmittance, heat insulation, fire resistance, and sound insulation. Common types of architectural glass include single-layer glass, insulated glass, laminated glass, and low-e glass. Architectural glass not only fulfills practical needs but also enhances the beauty and modernity of the building.

Types of glass

Tempered/Toughened Glass

Tempered glass, also known as toughened, tuffen, hardened, or ESG glass, undergoes a thermal treatment that significantly enhances its strength. This process creates compressive stress on the outer surface while leaving the interior in a state of tension.

Advantages:

Tempered glass is up to five times stronger than regular glass and offers enhanced safety. When broken, it shatters into small, blunt-edged fragments that pose minimal risk of injury. In contrast, ordinary glass breaks into large, sharp shards that can easily cause harm. Due to its safety and strength, tempered glass is widely used in applications such as guardrails, windows, shower enclosures, and curtain walls, either as standalone panels or in forms like insulated and laminated glass. Laminated Glass

Laminated glass, a type of safety glass, is made by bonding two separate glass panes with an interlayer, typically PVB or SGP. This interlayer securely holds the glass layers together, maintaining their structure even when shattered. This feature provides enhanced security and reduces the risk of injury in case of breakage.

Key Advantages of Laminated Safety Glass:

1) Increased Safety: Unlike standard glass, which breaks into sharp, dangerous shards, laminated glass keeps fragments securely attached to the interlayer, minimizing injury risk even if the glass shatters.

2) Superior Noise Insulation: Laminated glass effectively reduces sound transmission, creating a quieter and more peaceful indoor environment by blocking external noise.

3) Weather Resistance: Ideal for regions prone to extreme weather events like hurricanes or tornadoes, laminated glass provides enhanced protection against wind and hail damage.

4) Enhanced Durability: With a longer lifespan than regular glass, laminated windows require less frequent replacement, offering long-term durability and reliability.

Insulated Glass

An Insulated Glass Unit (IGU), also known as Double Glazed glass, comprises two or more flat glass panes separated by a sealed air gap. The glass options available include clear, Low-E, standard or high-performance tinted, reflective, laminated, and decorative varieties. The glass layers in an IGU can be annealed, heat-strengthened, tempered, or laminated.

Advantages

Energy Efficiency: The thermal insulation properties of insulated glass reduce heat transfer, making it more effective than single-pane glass. Applying a Low-E coating further enhances energy conservation.

Safety: Double-glazed units offer superior protection against theft or burglary compared to single-pane glass. The tightly sealed construction makes it harder to break from the outside.

Sound Insulation: The dual-pane structure of insulated glass units provides improved soundproofing, reducing external noise more effectively.

Furnishing Protection: By limiting direct sunlight, these units help protect interior furnishings from sun damage, preventing fading over time.
